BUSINESS COMMUNICATION CONCLAVE 2025 | 13th JANUARY 2025
On 13th January 2025, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, hosted the Business Communication Conclave 2025 on the theme "Impact of Digital Communication Tools on Workplace Collaboration." The event featured distinguished speakers:
- Ms. Anindita Mookerjee Sinha (Head: GCC Clest Communication - Transformation, Engagement & Strategy: Ernst & Young)
- Ms. Bhaswati Chakravorty (Vice President: Corporate Communication, Bank of America)
- Mr. Anup Sharma (Strategic Communications Consultant, PMNCH WHO)
The conclave was also graced with presence of Dr. Sushma Vishnani (Dean: Academics), Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary (Dean: Student Affairs), Dr. Kajal Srivastava (PAN Area Chair: Business Communication and Liberal Arts), Dr. Abha R. Dixit (Area Chair: Business Communications), Dr. Anupam Saxena (Chairperson: Alumni Relations Committee), Dr. Mrinal Pradhan (), and Dr. Chandraketu Singh (Chairperson: PGDM – Financial Services)
The conclave commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by Ms. Anindita Mookerjee Sinha, Ms. Bhaswati Chakravorty, Mr. Anup Sharma, Dr. Sushma Vishnani, Dr. Kajal Srivastava, Dr. Abha R. Dixit, Dr. Anupam Saxena, and Dr. Mrinal Pradhan.
This was followed by a soulful Saraswati Vandana presented by the Cultural Committee.
The conclave moved further with welcome address of Dr. Sushma Vishnani, wherein she emphasized the theme's relevance in today's digital era. She highlighted Jaipuria Institute of Management’s commitment to preparing students for a dynamic corporate world by fostering engagement with industry leaders.
Further, Dr. Kajal Srivastava set the tone for the conclave, underscoring the central role of communication in leadership and collaboration. She discussed how digital tools act as a "magic wand," simplifying tasks while presenting unique challenges in maintaining human connections.
The conclave moved further with the panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Abha R. Dixit which revolved around the transformative role of digital communication tools in workplace collaboration, along with their challenges and opportunities.
The Panel Discussion commenced with question being raised by Dr. Abha R. Dixit to the esteemed panelists: “How do you see the overall scenario of digital communication tools and their impact on workplace collaboration?” Giving insights on the question, Mr. Anup Sharma highlighted the accessibility and time-saving benefits of digital tools, drawing an analogy with Lord Rama’s strategic communication during the Lanka war. He emphasized that digital communication allows organizations to connect effectively with the right people at the right time, facilitating streamlined collaboration.
Further, Ms. Anindita Mookerjee Sinha pointed out that digitalization is reshaping professional interactions, urging organizations to adapt to these changes. She remarked on how digital tools enable real-time communication, enhance service excellence, and provide avenues for innovation. However, she also acknowledged the lack of human connection as a notable downside.
Ms. Bhaswati Chakravorty emphasized how digital tools were instrumental during the pandemic, enabling organizations to maintain collaboration and continuity. She cited the example of intranets, which unify entire organizations under a shared vision and mission, fostering seamless work environments.
The Panel discussion moved onto the next question which was initiated by Dr. Abha R. Dixit: “What are the challenges of digital communication, and how can they be addressed?” Answering the question, Mr. Anup Sharma spoke about the misuse of digital tools, citing examples of fake content generated by AI. He stressed the need for strong privacy and security measures to prevent data breaches and the importance of balancing focus amid distractions posed by digital platforms. Further, Ms. Anindita Mookerjee Sinha suggested that new professionals should begin their careers with onsite work to better understand organizational culture. She stressed the importance of training employees to achieve high productivity with zero errors while leveraging AI's capabilities. Moving further, Ms. Bhaswati Chakravorty argued that while AI is a valuable asset, it cannot replace the human touch essential for workplace dynamics. She also highlighted the critical role of networking and the need for responsibility and accountability when using digital tools.
The panel discussion also included the question, initiated by Dr. Abha R. Dixit: “In the digital era, how can organizations strengthen face-to-face collaboration and employee engagement?” Mr. Anup Sharma shared his experience at PMNCH, explaining how digital tools, like the "Mobile Kunji" initiative, have positively impacted rural communities. He urged organizations to consider cultural nuances when implementing technology and emphasized the generational shift in workplace expectations. Further, Talking about collaboration and employee engagement, Ms. Anindita Mookerjee Sinha discussed the significance of employee resource groups (ERGs) in fostering engagement and collaboration. She noted that many employees remain loyal to organizations that prioritize engagement and personal development. Moving further, Ms. Bhaswati Chakravorty advocated for creating a culture of continuous feedback and bridging generational and cultural gaps. She also stressed the importance of managers as pivotal points of contact between employees and organizations.
Dr. Abha Dixit concluded the panel discussion by stressing the need for accountability and adaptability in the digital age.
Moving further the stage was opened for Q & A session where students engaged themselves in insightful discussion with the esteemed panelists.
The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Mrinal Pradhan, where he referred to technology as a "double-edged sword," urging its responsible use to maximize benefits. He further thanked the esteemed panelists for their honorable presence. He also underscored the hard work of student coordinators and volunteers behind the success of the conclave and also congratulated the participants who attended the conclave.
The event ended with a felicitation ceremony and the presentation of mementos to the esteemed panelists.
The Business Communication Conclave 2025 successfully provided students with actionable insights into communication strategies and the transformative role of digital tools in the modern workplace, fostering a deeper understanding of innovation, collaboration, and adaptability.
