One Nation, One Election | Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur | 10th April 2025

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur, proudly hosted an impactful session on One Nation, One Election on 10th April, 2025. The session featured Sh. Rao Rajendra Singh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Jaipur Rural, who shared profound insights into the transformative vision of conducting simultaneous elections across the nation — a reform that seeks to redefine the landscape of Indian democracy.

Moderated by Dr. Daneshwar Sharma, Dean Academics, the session opened with a compelling dialogue on the historical evolution of India’s electoral system and the recurring challenges of frequent elections. Sh. Rao Rajendra Singh articulated the urgent need for reform, highlighting how continuous election cycles not only strain administrative machinery and public funds but also hinder long-term policy execution due to recurring imposition of the Model Code of Conduct. He emphasized that One Nation, One Election is not merely a political reform but a step toward strengthening the soul of democracy by promoting consistency, efficiency, and unity in governance.

He cited examples of developed nations that conduct synchronized elections and encouraged students to envision the broader socio-economic benefits — reduced election expenditure, streamlined development programs, and better governance due to minimized policy paralysis. In his address, he also addressed the constitutional, legal, and federal challenges associated with the reform, while stressing that with political will, cross-party consensus, and public awareness, the transition is not only possible but necessary. His words inspired students to explore their role as informed citizens in the democratic process, urging them to engage with reforms that could shape the future of the nation.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students posed insightful questions on constitutional amendments, the feasibility of implementation across diverse states, and the impact on regional autonomy. The event culminated with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Himanshu Sharma, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker and acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team. With such intellectually stimulating engagements, Jaipuria Institute of Management continues to serve as a hub for civic learning and leadership development, nurturing the socially responsible leaders of tomorrow.
