On 21st April 2025, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur, organized a comprehensive Summer Internship Workshop to prepare students for their upcoming internships. The workshop was thoughtfully divided into three insightful sessions, each focusing on a crucial aspect of professional readiness. It was an enriching experience, aimed at making students industry-ready, helping them to excel both in learning and in practical exposure.
The first session began with a detailed introduction to the summer internship program. The session emphasized the importance of internships in shaping a student’s career and bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices. The speakers were faculty from various domains- Dr. Daneshwar Sharma (Dean-Academics), Dr. Varun Chotia, Dr. Santosh Sharma, Dr. Rahul Meena, Dr. Aparna Mendiratta, Dr. Anvay Bhargava and Dr. Himanshi Pandey. The speakers explained the two primary types of internship projects – task-based and research-based. Task-based internships involve executing specific assignments given by the organization, focusing on operational efficiency and skill application. On the other hand, research-based internships demand in-depth analysis and systematic study of a particular topic or business problem. Students were guided on how to structure their reports, highlighting objectives, methodology, findings, and recommendations. Important pointers such as maintaining daily diaries, regular meetings with mentors, and adhering to timelines were stressed. Overall, the session gave a clear roadmap for making the most out of the internship experience.
The second session focused on professional etiquette, dressing sense, and hygiene – critical factors that contribute to one’s impression and growth in the corporate world. The industry guest Ms Nidhi Nahata, Founder- India Textiles Trails, highlighted the importance of formal dressing, including neatly ironed clothes, polished shoes, minimalistic accessories, and appropriate hairstyles. They also emphasized personal hygiene factors like regular grooming, oral hygiene, and maintaining cleanliness, which are often overlooked but are essential in a professional setting. Tips were shared on how to behave in an office environment, including maintaining a polite tone, punctuality, showing respect to all employees, and practicing active listening. This session reinforced that while technical skills are crucial, soft skills and professional appearance play a significant role in career success.
The next session was a highly engaging Alumni Expert Talk, where Jaipuria alumni, now established in various industries, shared their internship experiences and professional journeys. Alumni - Yashaswini Nischal, Nidhi Maheshwari, Divyansh Jindal, Mohit Jain, Rohit Yadav and Safal Jain shared their real-world experiences and added immense value to the session. They spoke about the initial challenges they faced, the importance of adaptability, and networking, and how internships helped them in understanding the industry better. Alumni also advised students to take ownership of their projects, show enthusiasm to learn, and not shy away from asking questions. Their stories were inspiring and motivating, providing practical tips and emotional encouragement to the current batch.
The final session was conducted by Dr. VP Singh, distinguished Professor, Jaipuria Institute of Management, who discussed ‘Corporate Expectations and Conflict Management’ with the students. He emphasized on increasing the industry and domain knowledge, understanding the company’s vision, mission & values and working towards a strong executive presence. He discussed the importance of being proactive, curiosity and demonstrating learnability. He conducted an exercise to help students understand their conflict handling style and further explained the ways to handle conflicts and maintain better relationships at the workplace.
The Summer Internship Workshop concluded on a positive and confident note, equipping students with the necessary skills, expectations, and mindset to step into the corporate world. It was not just about preparing for internships, but about preparing for a journey toward becoming responsible and capable professionals.
