On 4th March, Jaipuria Institute of Management organized a POSH Training Session to educate faculty and students about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. The session was led by Dr. Himani Goswami, an HR Consultant, Certified POSH Trainer, and Certified POCSO Trainer from the corporate office. She provided a comprehensive overview of the Vishaka Guidelines, which laid the foundation for workplace harassment laws in India, emphasizing their role in ensuring a safe and respectful professional environment.
Dr. Goswami explained the types of sexual harassment, including quid pro quo and hostile work environment harassment, and how they can manifest in verbal, non-verbal, physical, and virtual forms. She stressed the importance of recognizing inappropriate behavior and reporting it without hesitation. She also highlighted the legal consequences of harassment and its emotional and psychological impact on victims, reinforcing the need for preventive measures.
The session also focused on workplace do’s and don’ts, encouraging participants to maintain professionalism, respect personal boundaries, and actively contribute to a safe and inclusive culture. Dr. Goswami detailed the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), explaining its composition, complaint-filing process, and the measures taken to ensure confidentiality and fair investigations.
The training concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students and faculty shared their concerns and gained deeper insights into the preventive framework. Dr. Goswami’s expertise empowered attendees to become advocates for a harassment-free campus, reinforcing Jaipuria Institute of Management’s commitment to creating a secure and respectful academic environment.
