On 20th September, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Alumni Relation Cell, Lucknow organized a virtual session on Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence conducted by Dr. Purnendu Shekhar Pandey, Associate Professor, Business Analytics at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. The workshop aimed at introducing participants to the concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), and practical applications of Google Colab in data analytics. The session was though primarily organized for alumni, but a significant number of current PGDM students also attended the insightful session.
The introduction to the workshop was given by Mr. Subham Halder, Junior Representative of Alumni Relations Committee, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. He welcomed the participants and set the context for the session.
Dr. Purnendu delivered an insightful presentation covering the hierarchy of AI, from machine learning and deep learning to generative AI. He explained the role of Large Language Models (LLMs) in data analytics, their training methods, and challenges such as hallucinations in responses. He also highlighted the evolution of LLMs from natural language processing to multimodal models capable of analyzing text, images, audio, and video.
The workshop included hands-on demonstrations using Google Colab, where participants learned to upload datasets, clean and standardize data, perform descriptive statistics, and generate various visualizations including histograms, scatter plots, bar charts, and heatmaps. Dr. Purnendu showcased how AI-powered tools could help ensure accurate, verifiable, and hallucination-free analytics. He further demonstrated how to create automated PDF reports and emphasized the tool’s capabilities for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
The session concluded with discussions on data privacy considerations when working on cloud-based tools, alongside practical steps for participants to continue practicing independently.
