On 13th March 2026, the Business Analytics Club of the Domain Forum Committee at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow organized an innovative and intellectually engaging event titled “The Invisible Hand: Data Auction & Manipulation” as part of the institute’s flagship event Samanvaya 3.0. The event was conducted in the esteemed presence of Prof. Devesh Kumar and Prof. Shubhodeep Sircar, whose guidance and encouragement motivated participants to actively engage in the analytical and strategic aspects of the competition.
The event was designed as a market simulation challenge that provided students with an opportunity to experience the complexities of decision-making in competitive market environments. In this simulation, participants assumed the role of consultancy firms working for a mysterious billionaire client, with the primary objective of identifying the most effective Product–Market Fit strategy. The challenge required teams to analyze evolving market conditions and make informed strategic decisions using limited and tradable information, closely mirroring real-world business dynamics.
Participants engaged in a structured simulation where information was treated as a valuable and tradable asset. Teams had to strategically bid for or exchange data that could provide them with insights into consumer preferences, market trends, and competitive positioning. This format encouraged students to apply strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and data-driven analysis while navigating uncertainty and competition.
Throughout the event, teams collaborated to interpret the acquired data, evaluate market opportunities, and design well-structured strategies that aligned with their client’s objectives. The final stage involved presenting their market entry strategies and product–market fit solutions, where participants justified their decisions using analytical reasoning and strategic insights. This process simulated the challenges faced by consulting firms and business analysts when working with incomplete or competitive information.
Overall, The Invisible Hand: Data Auction & Manipulation proved to be a highly engaging and thought-provoking event that effectively combined business analytics, strategic management, and real-world market simulation. The event not only strengthened participants’ analytical and problem-solving abilities but also enhanced their understanding of how data, strategy, and market forces interact in modern business environments. It successfully reflected the spirit of Samanvaya 3.0, which aims to promote experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the practical application of management concepts among students.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners who demonstrated outstanding analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and effective teamwork throughout the competition.
