On 18 October 2024, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow organized the “Regional Seminar on Introduction to the Securities Market”. The Chief Guest of the seminar was Mr. Kaushal Kumar (Assistant Manager: National Securities of Depository Limited). The event was organized by the Office of Student Affairs under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary (Dean: Student Affairs). and expertly coordinated by the Student Development Council 2024. The seminar was conducted by NSDL under the guidance of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), aiming to provide valuable insights into financial literacy and investment awareness.

The event began with a warm welcome extended to the guest by the host Ms. Ridhi Gandhi. The guest was presented with a green certificate as a token of appreciation for his valuable presence.

Mr. Kaushal Kumar began the interactive session by providing an insightful overview of SEBI's pivotal role in the financial market. His presentation aimed to enhance students' financial literacy, focusing on the security market, and various investment schemes and methods like systematic investment plans (SIPs), and mutual funds (MFs).

Moving further, he highlighted SEBI’s core responsibilities, including regulating the securities market, protecting investors, and ensuring transparency. He explained how SEBI plays a critical role in maintaining fair market practices and monitoring compliance.

He also outlined how NSDL operates, along with the role of depositories like CDSL and NSDL in the securities market, and the function of depository participants. Additionally, he encouraged students to start investing early, stressing the importance of researching a company's previous performance before investing. Additionally, he outlined the various functions carried out by NSDL.

The seminar covered various topics which included the critical functions of SEBI, the operations of NSDL, and the conversion of physical shares into Demat accounts. The session also highlighted the importance of prudent investing and understanding how personal investments play a significant role in financial growth.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment where participants engaged themselves in asking queries and getting valuable insight from the guest. The seminar was fruitful and will help participants to make informed decisions in their future financial and investment endeavors.
