On September 4, 2025, the students of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore, undertook an industrial visit to the CNH plant, a global leader in the manufacturing of construction and agricultural equipment. Guided by faculty members Dr. Rekha Attri, Dr. Jagdish Bhagwat, and Dr. Debasis Mohanty, the visit witnessed the active participation of 28 students who explored the practical dimensions of large-scale operations. The session was facilitated by Mr. Sohil Mansuri, Safety Engineer, who introduced the group to the plant’s rigorous safety culture, operational discipline, and world-class production practices. This immersive experience offered students a unique opportunity to witness how classroom theories translate into real-time industrial applications while gaining exposure to global manufacturing standards.
Key insights from the visit included:
- Safety First: Strict safety protocols, mock drills, and daily checks underscored the plant’s disciplined approach to worker protection.
- Scale of Operations: Established in 1989 and partnered with L&T in 1995, the 40-acre facility employs around 800 workers and houses advanced assembly lines for SSLs and excavators.
- Cutting-edge Fabrication: Demonstrations of robotic welding, gas arc welding, and laser cutting highlighted precision-driven production.
- Continuous Improvement: Practices like 5S, 4M, 5T, Kaizen, and waste management reflected CNH’s commitment to efficiency and sustainability.
The industrial visit proved to be a highly enriching experience, bridging classroom concepts with real-time practices and equipping students with valuable insights into the complexities of modern manufacturing.
