Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore
On 19th April, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore organized an insightful industrial visit to Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd., a renowned textile manufacturing company based in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The visit was a valuable opportunity for management students to witness the inner workings of one of India's most sustainable textile firms and understand how business operations can align with environmental and ethical responsibilities.
Established in 1997, Pratibha Syntex has grown into a leading vertically integrated manufacturer of knitted textile products. The company is known for its large-scale operations, catering to global brands while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability. With an end-to-end setup that includes ginning, spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing, and garmenting, Pratibha Syntex ensures complete quality control and operational efficiency under one roof. They work with over 35,000 organic cotton farmers and produce more than 60 million garments annually.
During the visit, students toured the various units within the facility, gaining exposure to how raw cotton is transformed into finished apparel. The spinning and knitting sections demonstrated advanced machinery in action, while the dyeing and finishing sections highlighted the company’s innovative, water-saving processes. The most impressive aspect was their zero-liquid discharge water treatment plant, which recycles nearly 100% of the water used during manufacturing. This facility stood as a practical example of the company’s pledge to reduce its water and carbon footprint by 65% by 2025.
The students also interacted with key officials who explained the company’s focus on ethical labor practices, supply chain transparency, and circular fashion. They shared how Pratibha Syntex partners with farmers to promote organic farming, offers skill training to rural youth, and reinvests in community development projects. These values not only enhance brand loyalty among international clients but also position the company as a leader in socially responsible business.
This visit helped students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world business practices. Concepts like lean manufacturing, corporate social responsibility, supply chain integration, and sustainable development came to life through firsthand experience. The exposure to Pratibha Syntex’s practices gave students a deeper appreciation of how industries can thrive economically while being environmentally and socially conscious.
Overall, the industrial visit was a powerful learning experience, showcasing how innovation, responsibility, and operational excellence can go hand-in-hand in modern business.
