On 22nd September 2025, the Alumni Relations Committee (ARC) of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, successfully organized the event DEBATTLE – Battle of Words, Clash of Minds . The event witnessed six energetic teams engaging in powerful debates across three thought-provoking topics, presenting strong arguments from both for and against perspectives.
The event was graced by our esteemed panel of judges - Dr. Shilpi Agarwal (Alumna, Batch 1997-99), Mr. Anupam Saxena (Chairperson, Alumni Relations), and Mr. Anurag Mohan (Senior Manager, Alumni Relations) - whose valuable insights and engaging questions challenged participants to think critically and defend their viewpoints with greater clarity.
The first topic of the evening, Performance-based Pay: Fair Motivation or Unnecessary Pressure, sparked a fiery discussion. Team KUV, speaking for the motion, asserted that “performance pay rewards effort and drives employees to consistently deliver their best.” On the other hand, Team Thinker, arguing against, countered by saying, “it creates toxic competition and burns out employees instead of motivating them.”
Moving to the second theme, Stock Marketing: Wealth Creation or Just Another Form of Gambling, the stage turned into a battleground of financial perspectives. Team Quintessential, supporting the motion, emphasized that “stock markets are the backbone of wealth generation and economic progress.” In contrast, Team Aspires challenged this notion, stating, “for many, it’s nothing more than speculation - high risk with no guaranteed return.”
The final debate revolved around Mergers & Acquisitions: Value Creation or Chaos. Team 3 Musketeers, arguing for the motion, highlighted that “M&As create synergies, expand markets, and drive innovation.” Team Chaos, speaking against, firmly responded, “they often disrupt employees, lives, create instability, and destroy long-term value.”
The event was a true clash of bright young minds, filled with intense debates, sharp counterarguments, and thought-provoking perspectives. Each team displayed commendable research, confidence, and teamwork, making the competition engaging and intellectually stimulating.
As the event drew to a close, the judges not only shared their valuable feedback but also posed thought-provoking questions that pushed participants to refine their reasoning and explore new dimensions of the topics discussed. Their presence added immense learning value to the competition.
The evening concluded with the message that DEBATTLE is not just about winning or losing - it is about growth, confidence, and building connections that last beyond competition.
