80 Years of Freedom: Celebrating Independence, Responsibility & Leadership at Jaipuria Lucknow

On 15th August 2026, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow celebrated the 80th Independence Day with the SDC-26 Investiture Ceremony, bringing together the spirit of freedom, responsibility, and student leadership.

Independence Day is more than a national celebration. It is a reminder of the sacrifices that shaped our journey as a nation and of the responsibility each generation carries to preserve, strengthen, and enrich this legacy. As we celebrate 80 years of independent India, the day also invites us to reflect on what freedom truly means and how we choose to use it.

The celebration began with the flag hoisting by Dr. Sushma Vishnani, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, followed by her inspiring address on freedom at four levels: individual, family, community, and nation. Emphasising that “The biggest freedom is within me, not in the external world,” she encouraged students to “exercise your freedom with responsibility” and grow into responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to a free India.

The celebrations came alive with captivating cultural performances featuring drama, music, and dance, beautifully reflecting the country's rich heritage, diversity, unity, and youthful energy.

The occasion then transitioned into the SDC-26 Investiture Ceremony, where the newly appointed SDC members were formally entrusted with their responsibilities in the presence of the Director, Deans, Area Chairs, Programme Chairs, and Committee leadership.

The ceremony concluded with the Oath-Taking Ceremony of SDC-26, as the new student leaders reaffirmed their commitment to serve with integrity, responsibility, and purpose.

As India celebrates 80 years of independence, may the spirit of freedom continue to inspire us to lead with courage, serve with responsibility, and build a stronger tomorrow.
